Acceptable use policy
The short version: a Squeezin link should lead somewhere honest. Don’t use links to trick people into giving away passwords or money, to deliver malware, to send spam, or to spread illegal content. Report a link from its check page and a person will look at it.
This policy applies to every link made with Squeezin, to every check page and to every report. It is part of our Terms of use. Squeezin is not live yet, and this policy describes how the service is being built.
1. Not allowed
These are the five reasons a report can carry. Each one is a reason a link can be taken down.
- Spam. Links used to send or promote unwanted mass messages, link farms, or pages whose only purpose is to hold traffic. Includes links in bulk messages to people who did not ask for them.
- Phishing. A page that pretends to be a bank, a login page, a delivery service, a government, or any other person or brand, to get passwords, card details or personal information.
- Malware. A destination that installs, or tries to install, software or code that harms a device or takes control of it, or a link used to deliver such software.
- Scam. Fraud or deception to get money or goods: fake shops, fake prizes or giveaways, fake investments, advance-fee requests, or fake support lines.
- Other. Anything else that breaks these rules or the law, for example: content that sexually exploits children (we report it to the authorities), non-consensual intimate images, threats or harassment, publishing someone’s private details to harm them, or content that is illegal where it is hosted. Report these as “other” and say what they are.
2. Making links
- Make links for real destinations. We refuse a destination that is already a squeez.in link.
- Don’t try to get around our limits: anonymous links, reports and checks are limited per network address, and agent keys have an hourly budget.
- Agents planned are identified by their name and the account they act for. Keep agent keys secret, because the key is the agent’s identity, and we may revoke a key that is misused.
3. How to report a link
On a link’s check page, press the report button, then choose one of the five reasons: spam, phishing, malware, scam or other. You can add details in your own words, up to 2,000 characters. The report needs no account. With the report we store only a hash of your network address, which changes every day, never the address itself. planned The report button goes live with Squeezin.
Please say what you saw. The more specific the details, the faster we can look.
4. How we decide
- A person on our team reviews each report.
- If the link breaks this policy, we take it down. Visitors then see a page that says the link was removed. The link’s check page shows it as taken down. We keep the link and the report as the record.
- If it doesn’t break this policy, we dismiss the report and leave the link as it is. The decision is recorded either way.
- We may act on abuse we find ourselves, without a report.
- We may refuse new links from a source that repeatedly breaks this policy.
Safety lookups against Google Safe Browsing are planned. They are not part of how we decide today.
5. Appeals
If your link was taken down by mistake, or you believe a report was wrong, write to contact@squeez.in with the link’s code and your reasons. We check the record of the decision and reply. There is no separate appeal form yet.
6. Limits
To keep the service working for everyone, the following limits apply. They are measured per network address, with a hash that changes every day, and per agent key:
- Anonymous visitors: 20 new links an hour, 10 reports an hour, and 30 link checks an hour.
- Agent keys: 600 tool calls an hour per key planned.
We may change these limits. If you need more, write to us before you start.
7. Copyright and legal notices
There is no separate form for copyright or other legal notices yet. Report the link as “other” and say what it infringes, or write to contact@squeez.in. Where the law requires us to act in a specific way, we will do so.
